Hi!
Just a Blog.
Well it has been a little while since I posted a Blog, so I thought I'd getcha caught up on some things. For those of you who watch "The Speed Report" on Sunday nights, you may have seen a report about Tommy Hayden's switch to Suzuki for 2007. If you did not then I will tell you all about it... keep reading.
I figure I would write a little about what has been going on with me lately. First off, for all of those folks who send me messages on my mypace.com account... thanks very much! You can check out my myspace.com account at myspace.com/gregontv. I don't have anything new in the way of hosting a TV show right now. But we are working on some new stuff, so perhaps soon. My wife Stephanie and I took a little trip up the East coast last week. We took a 2001 Yamaha WR250F to my brother Jeff in CT, then fired up to Cape Cod to visit my folks. We got a nice day of sailing in with my pops, then a quick night stay in NYC. We were in New York on September 11th. We arrived in the early evening and saw the lights coming from ground Zero. All I can say is, we still remember. After a short 9 hour drive home the next day we were back in North Kakalacky! I had a bad cold the entire time, but still had a bunch of fun. Back home I have been slinging the hammer and saw building some steps off the back porch so my dogs have a b-line to the back yard and they can stop killing my grass in the front yard! I also got a new game for XBOX 360 called Dead Rising. It is pretty cool and a HUGE waste of time! But playing 360 in my new vibrating Laz-y-Boy... ah, that is sweet! Now that you have suffered through my boring life... time for the motorcycle stuff.
I just got off the phone with Josh Hayes of the PJ1/Parts Unlimited/Erion Honda team. Josh is back home after a trip to Willow Springs in California for the Willow 200 race. Josh, who has won the $50,000 grand prize a couple times, did not compete this year, but was helping the young Michael Beck. Beck rented a Kawasaki ZX-10R from Attack Kawasaki, put some Pirelli's on it and raced. Josh said that Beck did a great job even though he did not make it the entire race... some equipment issues I guess. Jeremy Toye, who is a great guy, won the race over Steve Rapp. Congrats to Toye! Josh is in a great frame of mind right now and is looking forward to the "winner takes all" race at Mid-Ohio for the Formula Xtreme Championship. I can't wait for that race either!! Josh has a busy off season planned no matter what happens with the Championship... expect to read a lot about Josh on a roadrace bike allllllll winter long.
THIS PARAGRAPH IS JUST MY OPINION and there is no real proof, only speculation:
I have to weigh in on some MotoGP stuff that is pissing me off. Man... I am so angry with what has been happening to Nicky Hayden!! First off, the rule book says that practice will not determine the grid, but in Malaysia, with Rossi the fastest in practice, they set the grid... hmmm... then Rossi passes Stoner under a waiving yellow flag and he gets NOTHING!! BULLSH**!!!!!! A couple races ago Nicky has a bad tire and ill handling bike and all Nicky gets is... sorry from Michelin and Honda. There is so much other stuff that is going on that I can't talk about, but safe to say there are a lot of people that don't want Nicky to win this Championship and I am sick of seeing how it is unfolding. Nicky is one of the greats... not only on the bike, but off it as well. I hope he holds on, because if he wins that Championship it is on big FU to a lot of people in that paddock! GO NICKY!!!!!
Ok, now the Tommy Hayden stuff. I got a call from Suzuki last week to tell me that indeed the rumors were true that Tommy Hayden has signed a deal to race with Yoshimura Suzuki. Tommy will ride a Superbike and 600 in Supersport next year. Yup, I said a Superbike. Tommy Gun's deal if for two years. Were does that leave Aaron Yates? Aaron has an opportunity to ride on the Jordan Suzuki team for next year. I am not sure what Yates has decided yet, but I do know he will not be on a Kawasaki Superbike for 2007. At this point the chit chat is about Jamie Hacking on the Kawasaki. We should find out soon I would imagine.
That is about it for now... I am tired and need to ride my bike tomorrow. I hope to have more later in the week.
Thanks for reading.
